Second Extinction is a Left 4 Dead-esque co-op FPS from the creators of Just Cause, where players attempt to wipe out the hordes of mutant dinosaurs that have reclaimed planet Earth.
Playable in single-player or online co-op, Second Extinction allows up to three players to choose from a roster of uniquely skilled resistance fighters and drop into a mutant dino infested Earth. During missions you’ll complete objectives, blast hordes of dinos and make your way to an extraction point, with you unlocking upgrades to help you in future missions. You may have the tech and the firepower, but they’ve got the numbers, and they’re FAST!
Three playable characters have been announced so far (an Operative, an Enforcer and a Trooper), each of which have their own unique abilities and weapons. The dinosaurs announced so far are terrifying mutated versions of the T-Rex and the raptor, including an “Acid Raptor” and an “Electric Raptor” (presumably because huge claws and teeth aren’t scary enough). It’s a live game too, so you can expect more dinos and characters to be added in the future.
Avalanche Studios know how to make large open worlds and fun shooters, so it’s no surprise that Second Extinction is a fantastic looking game and blasting mutant dinos looks like a hell of a lot of fun. Sign up for the Beta to make those dinosaurs extinct (again!)
