Seedlings is a beautiful puzzle platforming adventure which sees you controlling a sentient seed as it makes its way through a game world that’s crafted from photos of the forests of New Zealand.
Previously featured on Alpha Beta Gamer back in 2018, Seedlings is a puzzle platforming adventure that takes place in the forests of New Zealand, where a new species of sentient seeds has appeared. You take on the role of one of these little Seedlings and must make your way through the lush green forest, while avoiding predators and pitfalls.
Your little Seedling isn’t particularly nimble on its own, all it can do is roll left and right, but it can inhabit the bodies of different plant creatures and use their abilities. There’s a nice selection of different host plants in the current build, each of which has their own purpose, such as allowing you to jump, to shoot yourself over high walls, to climb walls or just to use as a platform.
The puzzles are fairly easy, but it’s a very pleasant experience that really impresses with its unique photography-based art style and beautiful setting. Being able to hop into lois of different plant-based hosts is a lot of fun and the ending will leave you dying to know more about its strange sentient seed world.
