Space Tyrant is a great looking new roguelike 4X sci-fi strategy game from a dev team set up by the co-founder of PopCap games (Plants Vs Zombies, Peggle, Bejewelled, etc.), in which you build a massive space fleet, slaughter extraterrestrials and battle the forces of Galactic Order in your quest to dominate the universe.
Space Tyrant is the second game from Blue Wizard Digital (the first was the very well received Slayaway Camp), a team comprised mainly of Ex-PopCap developers and it looks like they’ve maintained the focus on easily accessible, addictive gameplay that made the likes of Plants Vs Zombie and Peggle such a success. Space Tyrant takes the deeply strategic and rather long winded gameplay of the 4x strategy genre and condenses it into fast paced bite sized missions that can be completed during a lunch break. In the game you don’t have to worry about achieving Cultural Victories or being diplomatic with oponents, instead you just focus on amassing a mighty army and obliterating anything that’s foolish enough to stand in your way.
Space Tyrant is pretty much doing for the 4x genre what Plants Vs Zombies did for the Tower Defense Genre, offering fast paced, easily accessible gameplay with lots of cartoony violence and a nice sense of humor. So if you fancy conquering galaxies in your lunch break sign up for the Beta now!
