Splittown is a good old fashioned Lucasarts style point and click adventure where a secret agent hunts down a shrink ray that’s been stolen by a villainous mayor.
Drawing inspiration from Lucatarts classics like Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max and The Secret of Monkey Island, Splittown is a lighthearted point and click adventure where a IM5 secret agent goes in search of a shrink ray. A nefarious mayor and his henchmen broke into the IM5 headquarters and stole the shrink ray while you were in the process of testing it. You now need to escape the headquarters and set out in search of the shrink ray to stop the mayor from stealing an election (and to stop yourself from vanishing into another realm).
The demo build of Splittown takes around an hour to play through and is a lot of fun. The gameplay, visuals and humor feel very much like a love letter to Lucasarts classics. The UI is simple and easy to use (much like the Sam & Max Max UI), the gag rate is high and there’s lots of fun little surprises and easter eggs to discover. There are even some optional objectives to complete that are also a lot of fun (such as playing through an advergame Monkey Island knock-off). The only thing it’s really missing is voice acting (and perhaps some better sound FX), but hopefully they will come in the future. Highly recommended.
