State of Decay 3 is still alive and kicking, you can sign up for the upcoming playtest on Xbox and PC!
Originally announced in 2020, State of Decay 3 is an open-world survival game set years after the zombie apocalypse, where an evolving blood plague threatens to consume the landscape and only tight-knit communities of survivors stand any chance of reclaiming what’s left. As in the previous games, your choices carry permanent weight – every community member you recruit brings unique abilities, but losing them to the horde means losing those skills forever.
Building a homestead requires constant resource management, strategic expansion, and difficult decisions about which risks are worth taking when a single bad call can cost irreplaceable lives. Up to four players can share a persistent world together, constructing and developing a base that reflects everyone’s contributions and survival philosophy across sessions. Playtesting is due to start soon and you’ll need a Discord account to sign up.
