Subliminal is a Backrooms inspired psychological horror adventure masterpiece where light becomes your weapon, tool, and lifeline as you navigate impossibly distorted spaces.
In Subliminal you appear to be trapped in a twisted version of familiar nostalgic environments. You must solve puzzles and physically manipulate light to shift reality around you. As you explore meticulously detailed environments rendered in Unreal Engine 5, you’ll piece together fragments of memories scattered through water parks, play places, and basements. But you’re not alone – something inhuman stalks these corrupted spaces, growing stronger with each memory you recover.
The Subliminal features about 30 minutes of gameplay and two different endings. It does a great job of immersing you in its surreal nostalgic world, building atmosphere and unleashing some big scares. The Stanley Parrable-esque narrator is a great touch too, doing a good job of guiding you through the game as your reality begins to dissolve. Highly recommended,
