Subugs is a very intense little survival horror game where you attempt to navigate a labyrinthine bug dimension that’s filled with massive unkillable insect monsters.
Currently in development by faxdoc (creator of Ecilia and Alice), Subugs is a short and tense survival horror game where you try to gather nine crystals in a dimension filled with giant bugs. The layout of the world is the same each time you play, but the bugs show up in different locations. You have a sword which you can use to repel some of the smaller ones, but if a big one gets within striking range then you’re really in trouble. You need to observe their movements and sneak past them when necessary, or just run away and find a different route if you don’t fancy your chances.
It would be nice if your sword was a little more effective, but even in these early stages of development it’s a great little game. The audio design is fantastic, the black and white visuals work really well and the way the insects move around the world is both terrifying and oddly beautiful. Highly recommended.
