Sucker for Love: Date to Die For is a quirky visual novel/point and click adventure hybrid where you uncover Eldritch mysteries in your rural hometown.
A sequel/spin-off of Sucker for Love, Date to Die For is a dating sim point and click adventure that draws inspiration from H.P. Lovecraft’s Shadow over Innsmouth and the Dunwich Horror. It takes place in a rural American town where the residents have an uncanny stare and many have been going missing. Then one day you’re kidnapped and have to use a mysterious purple spellbook to escape from the labyrinthine woodlands.
As with the original game, Sucker for Love: Date to Die For blends visual novel/dating sim visuals with point and click adventure elements. It also has 360 degree 2D environments to explore and a new eldritch romantic interest – Rhok’zan, The Black Goat of the Woods. It’s a little slower paced than the original and the exploration feels a little less intuitive, but the artwork is fantastic and the lore is a lot of fun. It certainly puts the love into Lovecraft.
