Symbiosis – Student Project Game

Symbiosis is a very cleverly crafted first person puzzle platforming adventure in which you are a human-plant hybrid that can control plant-life in the environment around you.

Taking around 20 minutes to play through, Symbiosis is a fantastic piece of game design that gets its narrative and innovative game mechanics across to the player without a single line of text or a single word being spoken. You take on the role of a human-plant hybrid that wakes up in a long abandoned facility. You then learn more about what you are and where you are via signs on the walls and other visual clues as you make your way through the creepy abandoned facility.

As you explore you soon discover that you have the ability to “plug in” to certain sections of pipework to allow you to control some of the vines that have overrun the facility. There are only a handful of puzzles using these vines, but each one is very cleverly designed and make good use of the environment and the versatility of the vines.

It’s an excellent little game with fun gameplay mechanics, a great sense of atmosphere and a fascinating game world that you yearn to explore more of and learn more about. Highly recommended.
