Ten Thousand Coins is a narrative driven merchant adventure where you’ll have to balance making a profit with tough moral choices as you attempt to make enough cash to save a loved one in dangerous fantasy world.
In Ten Thousand Coins you are a young merchant girl called Viia, who has to earn ten thousand coins to save the life of her loved one. To do so you’ll have to traverse a dangerous fantasy world, fight fearsome enemies and barter with customers/merchants. However, the biggest hurdles between you and your goal may be the tough moral decisions you make – as you progress you’ll discover that there’s a price for every coin earned. Will you exploit those in need for your own personal wealth? Saving the life of your friend is a righteous cause, but how many will have to suffer?
Aside from the interesting moral quandaries Ten Thousand Coins’ narrative driven strategy will throw up, it also has some innovative gameplay mechanics. It promises a one-of-a-kind bartering system which sees you attempting to negotiate the best deals possible with traders without angering them, and it has a turn-based combat system that uses real-time interactions to test your reflexes as well as your tactical prowess.
It’s a great looking game that looks set to offer a stylish, strategic and thought provoking merchant adventure. A game that’s not always about stats, loot and profits – sometimes it’s just about doing the right thing.
