Terrordrome: Reign of the Legends – Kickstarter Demo

Terrordrome: Reign of the Legends is a very cool new 2.5D fighting game from the creators of Terrordrome: Rise of the Boogeymen, that sees horror icons, mythological creatures and urban legends beating each other up in brutal 1 on 1 combat.

The original Terrordrome (still available to download here), was an awesome fighter that saw horror movie icons like Chucky, Pinhead and Freddy going fighting each other in blood splattered battles. Unfortunately due do the licensing costs and red tape involved the original Terrordrome game could never see a commercial release, but the devs have found a great alternative way for players to get their horror fighter fix with Terrordrome: Reign of the Legends.

Terrordrome: Reign of the Legends will feature 10 fighters taken from public domain literature, legends, folklore and myth. Fighters in the roster include Van Helsing, Neverman, Frankenstein, Sasquatch, T.H.I.S, Bloody Mary, The White Lady, Dracula, Mr Hyde and a Wendigo. Casie Hack from the Hack/Slash comic book series may be added too depending on stretch goal funding and there are plans for a Werewolf, a Mummy, Baba Yaga, a Reptilian, a Gray Alien and Mothman to be added as DLC. Each character has their own unique movesets and special moves and the narrative revolves around Van Helsing attempting to take down Dracula’s multinational corporation that controls the minds of humans at a worldwide level.

The Terrordrome: Reign of the Legends Kickstarter demo features two playable characters (Frankenstein and Sasquatch) and one arena playable in single player, local player or online multiplayer. The combat feels a lot more polished and fluid than Terrordrome: Rise of the Boogeymen, with combos and fast paced action that rewards skill over button mashing. Attacks feel like they have plenty of weight behind them and there are even Street Fighter Alpha-style Super Attacks.

It’s still early in development, but Terrordrome: Reign of the Legends already impresses with its high quality visual design, fluid animation and meaty combat. It’ll be great to see how it develops as more characters join in the monster mash. Horrifically good monster fighting fun.
