The Amazing Eternals (previously known as Keystone) is an interesting blend of fast paced first person hero shooting and deck-building strategy that’s set within a mysterious Zathura/Jumanji-esque board game that you’ve been sucked into.
Currently in development by Digital Extremes, creators of Warframe, in The Amazing Eternals you build decks with cards that you collect in the game and use them throughout the match to allow for a huge variety of strategic options. The cards allow you to access weapons, power-ups, traps and turrets during the game, so your load out can dramatically effect your play style.
After being sucked into the strange board game world, you inhabit the body of an Eternal – powerful warriors that are facing an endless battle to harvest the essence of the Keystone. The warriors and maps that they do battle in all have a nice variety, with themes ranging from the Wild West to classic pulp Sci-Fi reminiscent of Buck Rodgers and Flash Gordon.
It’s an impressive game, that infuses a large dose of strategy and variety to the hero shooter genre. Well worth checking out for slick, stylish first person combat with plenty of depth.
