The Chameleon is a retro styled Sci-Fi stealth action game set in the 70’s where you use mysterious superpowers as you attempt to escape a top secret facility.
In The Chameleon you awaken in a strange underground facility wearing a Hawaiian shirt and surrounded by dead bodies. You have no idea who you are, but there’s an alarm going off and the facility is being patrolled by robotic security guards that will kill you on sight. You’ll need to sneak through the facility, search for answers and make your escape, and you’ll have some pretty cool superpowers to help you do that!
Throughout the course of the full game you’ll unlock a variety of superpowers, but the current build features a dash, a super-punch and the ability to temporarily transform into your enemies. It’s the ability to transform into enemies that you’ll be using most often and it really comes in handy for sneaking past guards. Though it does deplete your energy pretty quickly so you need to be quick.
The current build of The Chameleon takes around 20 minutes to play through and really impresses with its dark Sci-Fi atmosphere, chunky retro visuals and nifty super abilities. The transformation ability in particular is great fun to use and allows for a much faster paced (and less frustrating) take on the stealth genre than the likes of Metal Gear Solid. Being able to walk past guards is much more fun than cowering behind a crate while you memorise their movements!
