Alpha sign ups have reopened for The Cycle, a stylish PvPvE first person shooter where 20 players race to complete contracts on a lush alien planet filled with hostile wildlife.
Previously featured on Alpha Beta Gamer back in 2018, The Cycle is a PvPvE FPS that sees Prosepctors competing against each other in fast paced 20 minute matches. The gameplay is somewhere between a battle royale game and an objective based FPS. The Prospectors live on a station that’s orbiting an alien planet and they drop down and complete objectives and escape before being ravaged by a radioactive storm.
The Cycle is playable in solo, duos or squads with players competing to complete as many contracts as possible. You’ll get multiple objectives throughout a match, such as reach an area of the map first or hold a point as long as possible. It’s not just the other players that will get in your way either, the land is filled with hostile wildlife, keen to make you their next meal. Return from a match alive and you’ll then be able to upgrade your equipment using the resources you earned.
It’s a great looking game that (a little like Scavengers) seems like an evolution of the battle royale formula, with a lot more to keep you occupied during matches than just blasting other players. Sign up for the Alpha to see what riches you can reap from The Cycle’s mysterious alien planet.
