In The Game Creation Recipe you are in search of the six vital ingredients required to build a game – a vial of motivation, dead bugs, an inspiring flower, a power of perseverance, silenced doubt and a cure for procrastination. However, to find those illusive ingredients you’ll have to fight your way through a dungeon that’s filled with bugs, bosses and secrets.
As you make your way through the dungeon you can use the mouse to swing your trusty paintbrush around to dispatch your enemies. Most of the enemies are fairly easy to dispatch, but there are some tricky ranged ones and spiders that can disable your brush with their webs.
It’s worth straying off the beaten path and searching each area you enter for hidden passages. Not only do the secret areas often containing hidden artwork, health pick-ups and cool power-ups, but they can also sometimes contain the ingredients you’re searching for.
Taking around 15 minutes to play through, The Game Creation Recipe is a delight from start to finish. The hand drawn artwork is full of character, the dungeon crawling gameplay is great fun and every area is packed full of interesting secrets to discover. Highly recommended.
