The Misfits is a very stylish 3rd person arena shooter in which you fight for weapons and profit in skill-focused kill-or-be-killed combat.
The Misfits features a refreshingly streamlined and focused take on the multiplayer arena shooter. It features gorgeous comic book-styled visuals, six playable characters, three character classes, six different game modes and seven diverse maps. What’s most notable (and commendable) is what’s absent though – there are no class upgrades, no perks, no exo-suits and none of the rest of the unnecessary clutter which plagues modern shooters and distracts from what’s important – skill based multiplayer combat where movement, communication, precision and a fast trigger finger are the key to success.
The maps feature day/night cycles are offer a nice variety of locations to blast your opponents in. Matches in The Misfits take place between up to 20 players, with game modes ranging from team deathmatches to the capture the flag-esque King of the Bill mode, all of which have cash themed twists such as bounties set on players or cash bags to pick up.
It’s still early in development but The Misfits is already doing a lot of things right. The comic book visuals give the game a lot of personality and there’s a lot to be said for it’s streamlined take on the arena shooter in a market full of bloated, impenetrable messes. If you want to fiddle about with loot boxes, perks and weapon attachments play Call of Duty, but if you want an arena shooter that focuses on what really matters come join The Misfits.

To sign up for the misfits Alpha, join the official Discord group, then enter the #welcome-new-players channel and request an Alpha key. Official test times are at Wednesday 3:00PM PST and Sunday 7:00PM PST but you can play anytime as long as someone is online.
