The Riftbreaker is a base-building survival action RPG where you use a heavily armed mech-suit to explore, research, build and survive on a hostile alien planet.
Currently in development by EXOR Studios, in The Riftbreaker you take on the role os an elite scientist/commando who pilots a powerful mech suit that’s capable of dimensional rift travel. You have entered a one-way roft which has transported you to a distant planet on the outer-reaches of the Milky Way. You now need to build up a base to allow travel back and forth between Earth so you can colonize the planet. However, the local wildlife may have different ideas…
The planet is inhabited by Starship Troopers-esque alien bugs who attack in swarms and will quickly overrun your base if you’re not careful. You need to explore the planet and gather research and resources which you can use to upgrade your base and your mech, helping you to survive, defend the base and complete your mission.
It’s a great looking game that should offer a nice blend of mech-based hack n’ slash gameplay and strategic base building. The lush alien planet looks like a fascinating place to explore and the way the alien creatures attack in swarms looks very cool and could lead to some dicey moments as you find out if brute force and numbers can overwhelm your defenses.
