Thrushbriar Hall – Alpha Demo

Thrushbriar Hall is a spooky first person puzzle adventure that sees you avoiding ghosts and solving puzzles in a creepy old abandoned boarding school.

In Thrushbriar Hall you take on the role of a paranormal investigator who has just arrived at an abandoned boarding school that your partner, Cheryl, tipped you off about. However, Cheryl arrived there a few days before you and she’s nowhere to be seen. The only things that are there are spirits of dead children who are keen to be left alone…

The current build of Thrushbriar Hall features around 15 minutes of gameplay and sees you attempting to avoid the ghost of a young boy who stakes the halls whilst solving puzzles. You have a handy paranormal video camera that you can use to view clues and messages scrawled on the walls and it also comes in handy for keeping track of the ghost boy. If you stay far enough away from the ghost boy then he won’t attack you, but if he starts to chase you then you need to find a place to hide quickly (of which there are many).

It’s a tense game with a great sense of atmosphere, exacerbated by the excellent audio design. The puzzles are well done and a particular nice touch is the inventory system which allows you to swap out the items in each hand by pressing the 1 and 2 keys. A spooky and cerebral first person haunted house horror adventure well worth checking out.
