TOEM – Beta Demo

TOEM is a wholesome narrative-driven puzzle adventure game where you use your camera to help people and solve puzzles in its wonderfully weird hand-drawn world.

Previously featured on Alpha Beta Gamer during the closed Alpha sign up, TOEM follows the story of a young adventurer who sets out into the world to visit a sacred place called the TOEM. It’s a long journey, which you travel by bus, but the bus stops at various stops along the way. To pay your way onto the bus at each stop you need to collect stamps in your Community Card – which you gain by helping out the various quirky characters you meet along the way.

A key asset on your adventure is your camera. You can take it out at any time and snap anything around you. This can be good for cataloging the various creatures you see along the way and it can also be used for discovering secrets, completing quests and solving puzzles. For example, you may be asked to photograph “an army of tiny soldiers”, then when you see a small colony of ants you may want to whip out your camera!

The current build of TOEM features a large area of the game world to explore and takes around 45 minutes to play through. It’s an absolutely delightful experience exploring its charming hand-drawn world and getting to know all the oddball characters within it. All of the mini-quests are well crafted and the world is packed full of great little details, fun surprises and secrets to discover. It makes for a playful and uplifting adventure that’s guaranteed to brighten up your day. Highly recommended.
