Toodee and Topdee is a very inventive puzzle platforming adventure where a 2D top-down character and a 2D side-on platforming character work together to solve puzzles in a shared world.
Previously featured on Alpha Beta Gamer when it was a game jam prototype, Toodee and Topdee is a cleverly crafted puzzle platformer where you control two character who work on different dimensional planes. Toodee is a 2D platformer character who lived in a 2D side-on world and Topdee is from a Sokoban-esque top-down puzzle world. However, due to the Creator’s assistant going rogue and stealing the fabled semi-colon, Toodee and Topdee’s worlds have become glitchy and mashed up, so the two must work together to fix it.
Each level in Toodee and Topddee is a single screen that you have to guide Toodee and Topdee to the exit of. You can switch between control of each character at the touch of a button which also switches the perspective, the physics and the way enemies behave between the way they would in a 2D top-down game and a 2D side-on game. So for instance Topdee can slide boxes along and then Toodee can use them as platforms
The core concept of Toodee and Topdee is both simple and a work of genius. Each character is fun to control and the levels are very cleverly crafted to make you use their abilities in some very creative ways. A fantastic 2D + 2D platformer well forth jumping on. Highly recommended.
