Toodee and Topdee is a very cleverly crafted puzzler on which one character who is in a 2D platformer and one character who is in a top down puzzler work together in the same screen!
In Toodee and Topdee you take control of Toodee (a character from a 2D platformer) and Topdee (a character from a top down puzzler) whose games get mashed up due to the misplacement of a semicolon in the game code. They must now work together to solve cleverly designed single screen puzzles as they go in search of the missing semicolon.
In each level you can switch between control of Toodee and Topdee at the touch of a button. This not only switches characters, but also switches the perspective of the game from a 2D platformer to a top down puzzler. Toodee and Topdee can’t touch each other but they can interact with objects in the game world and you can even use the switch of perspectives to manipulate the movement of enemies to your advantage.
Toodee and Topdee only features a handful of levels but they’ll take a while to solve as the puzzles are very inventive and the platforming can be pretty challenging. It’s a very impressive little puzzle adventure. Mashing up the two perspectives is a fantastic concept that allows for some very clever puzzle design and it even manages to squeeze a fun narrative into it’s short running time. Highly recommended.
