Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion is a delightful little A Link to the Past-esque top-down action RPG adventure where a tax-evading turnip sets out to pay back his debt and tear down the corrupt vegetable government!
In Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion you take control of the titular Turnip Boy – a cute little turnip who has been busted for tax evasion and evicted from his house. You must now do some errands for the mayor to pay back your debt and perhaps afterwards you can see what you can do to bring the corrupt vegetable government to its knees.
The demo build of Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion features around 15 minutes of gameplay and sees you attempting to clear out a barn full of unruly animals for the Mayor. The gameplay and combat is similar to A Link to the Past, but set in a colorful land full of talking vegetables. There are lots of quirky characters to talk to and it’s packed full of great gags and clever little details – such as the way you can grow swords and bombs by watering the relevant plants.
He may have committed tax evasion, but it’s a lot of fun hanging about with Turnip Boy in his delightfully silly vegetable world. It delivers a classic top-down RPG experience infused with a great sense of humor and fantastic pixel art animation. Highly recommended.
