Vast Trivia of the Void is a fantastic single-player trivia game where you answer questions on different topics as you venture deep into an abyss.
Created for Ludum Dare 48 bye Whales and Games (creators of Townseek) Vast Trivia of the Void is a single-player quiz game set in a vast void that’s inhabited by omniscient creature of the abyss (called the “Thing of the Void”). You travel around a large board in the void and answer questions that are posed to you by the Thing of the Void. The more questions you get right, the more points you earn and you can also go deeper into the abyss there the rewards are greater, but so are the risks.
You’re quizzed on a variety of different topics, such as sports, history, science, anime and video games. You earn more points for answering quickly and answering multiple questions right in a row increases your combo. As well as question tiles there are also special tiles that can have different effects and there are even shops where you can purchase useful items. You can also collect and use cards that can have different effects on the rules of the game.
Considering Vast Trivia of the Void was created in just 48 hours for Ludum Dare it’s an incredibly polished experience that’s packed full of content. The artwork and presentation is excellent and there’s a huge amount of questions to answer, so it’s unlikely you’ll see much repetition. Particularly enjoyable is the fact that there’s a definite tinge of geekery to the questions, so if you like video games and are plugged into modern popular culture then you should do reasonably well. See if you can appease the Thing of the Void!
