Webbed is a delightful pixel art platforming adventure where you become an adorable little web-slinging spider who sets out to save her boyfriend from a nasty bowerbird.
Currently in development by Sbug Games (creators of STAB STAB STAB), in Webbed you take control of an incredibly cute little spider as she scurries, spins-webs and swings her way through a vibrant forest to save her boyfriend. You’re very agile and you can either use your webbing for some Spider-Man style web-swinging or you can use it to create permanent webs that stretch across spaces – allowing you to walk along them and even catch some food.
The current build of Webbed features a large open woodland area to explore, with some friends to meet, some flies to eat and a couple of side-quests to complete. It doesn’t take too long to play through, but it’s an absolute delight, thanks largely to the character animation and how fun it is to control your cute little spider. Building webs and swinging are a joy and there are lots of great little touches – such as being able to dance, use leaves to parachute and a fun little unlockable that gives you a new means of transportation.
Spiders get a bit of a bad rap in movies and video games, but if you don’t fall in love with this eight-legged cutie then you may be broken inside. Highly recommended.
