Wizzley Presto and the Crypt of Nightmares is a challenging old school Dizzy-style puzzle platforming adventure in which you help an apprentice wizard save a quirky fantasy land from the wrath of a vampire.
In Wizzley Presto and the Crypt of Nightmares you find yourself teleported to a strange medieval fantasy land populated by killer bees, monsters and a rather inept knight who needs your help. It turns out that a vampire has recently awoken in the land and the knight needs your wizardly assistance dispatching it. The trouble is you’re really not much of a wizard and don’t even have a magic wand (they’re quite expensive), but you do have the ability to hold three objects at the same time and a knack for throwing eggs.
Much like the Dizzy games it was inspired by, Wizzley Presto and the Crypt of Nightmares is a very tough game but it’s also great fun. The world is a joy to explore and is packed full of fun secrets to discover and horrible ways to die. Progression requires a mixture of precision platforming and problem solving as you use items to overcome obstacles much like in the Dizzy games.
You’ll die a lot in Wizzley Presto and the Crypt of Nightmares and you only have a limited amount of lives until you go right back to the start, but each run is learning experience and you get further with each new attempt. It’s a wonderful little adventure packed full of secrets, charming pixel art animation and great humor. Highly recommended.
Tip: If you manage to kill all the space invaders you’ll earn a permanent life upgrade!
