World War 3 is a Battlefield-esque modern military first person shooter with large scale 65 player battles set in real-life locations.
With the latest Battlefield games intent on traveling back to WWI And WWII, it looks like World War 3 will be able to pick up the slack and provide players with a fix of modern military large scale multiplayer first person combat. World War 3 promises tactical multiplayer warfare where teamwork and strategy are key as you fight on the streets of Moscow, Berlin and Warsaw.
There’s no futuristic exo-suits here, but you do have access to a selection of modern military gadgets, such as drones and RC cars. You’ll also have access to vehicles, such as tanks, and a large assortment of weaponry that’s fully customizable with attachments, skins, camos and paints.
Interestingly, the battles in World War 3 will actually have more impact than just increasing your kill count – they have an affect on the overall meta-game. Players are rewarded for their actions in battle with resources that can be used to help defend or conquer a territory and the devs claim that “every destroyed vehicle, every kill, every bullet fired, every achievement affects the big picture presented on a constantly evolving, interactive war map eventually covering the entire planet”.
It’s a great looking game with some interesting ideas, and with EA and Activision’s big hitters intent on exploring different eras and crowbarring in Battle Royale modes, it’s a perfect time for another developer to have a crack at the modern military shooter.
