PC owners can now sign up for the upcoming Worms Rumble Beta, which features 32 player real-time worm-on-worm warfare playable in deathmatch and battle royale modes.
Worms Rumble marks a dramatic shift from the traditional turn-based combat of the long running Worms franchise – with each player controlling a single worm in fast paced real-time combat. It will feature cross-platform 32 player matches playable in Deathmatch and Last Worm Standing modes. All the classic weapons are there – from the trusty bazooka to the holy hand grenade and there’s a huge variety of different skins outfits and accessories to unlock to customize your little wriggly invertebrate.
There are a lot of battle royale games around now, but if there’s one classic franchise (other than Bomberman perhaps) that would make sense as a battle royale game then it’s Worms. It’s got a nice arsenal of weapons, plenty of personality and after all these years of turn-based warfare, it’ll be nice to finally let rip in real-time.
